February 7th?

Yes it is I guess. Where does the time go? This seems to be a running theme with me lately, always putting up a post saying "Yes, I've been missing." I am trying believe me. I do have reasons for my absence.

  • We are still hitting the gym and I'm now to the point where I don't care if people see me or not. I try and work hard at it and that's all that matters. Hardest thing is getting the mid section trimmed down but I can see it slowly going away. The thing I find difficult really is the pain the next day. The program I'm doing is involved with a lot of sets plus a few extra things I do at the end. Wow. The first week after my layoff was terrible. Keep pushing through. One thing that is nice is that we prepare all of our lunches pretty much for the week ahead of time. Saves some money and time throughout the week.
  • Hit and miss upstairs right now. Weather hasn't been too kind. Needs to warm up a little.
  • Work is about to get busier this year for us. We have a few good projects coming up that we're all looking forward to.
  • Seed starting time! Yes, I started onions, peppers, and some flowers today. Not sure if I'll be putting up the light stand this year. It takes up some room. I probably should. Next weekend.
  • Concentrating on the youngest and his college choice, choice of studies, scholarships, etc. A lot in this that I was unaware of.
Other than that it's the same thing going on everyday. It's getting brighter everyday, which means it's lightish when I leave work to go home. Still TV- less although we have been cruising Netflix and Hulu. Sure I miss watching the Euro golf on the weekends but we are saving ourselves $100.00 a month. That money definitely goes elsewhere.

I got off my buut last weekend (or so) and did some weeding around the garlic plants and looked at the carnage that was the rest of the garden.

Well that's all for now. Except I just realized that it's Super Bowl Sunday. Obviously not watching it so GO PANTHERS! Leia says so too as she's purring away next to me on the couch.

What You See

Had a great time this past weekend with an old friend and his new companion. She was the nicest person in all ways and we all had fun pretty much goofing off and staying up way too late at night. So much so I was definitely late to work on Monday. So tired Sunday afternoon I took a nap that lasted longer than it should have. Then came time for bed and I proceeded to lay around, sleep maybe an hour, count the revolutions of the ceiling fan (wondering inside if I did install it correctly), nod off for another half hour, rinse and repeat. Still fun is what we had.
The crappy weather returned Sunday mid afternoon so most things I was planning to do were put on hold (this is where the nap came in.) I did get some more lumber to build the three new beds and have a half- ass layout for the added water lines needed. No work on the building so hopefully if the weather cooperates I should get it almost done this coming weekend. I also plan on building and setting those beds as well as getting and spreading mulch in the front and side of the house. I had asked The Wife to take some pictures for me as I didn't really get a chance to. This is what I got.

Wife's new herb garden bed. Gotta find a final location for it.

Garlic

Wife's wildflowers.

Wife's flowers.

Wife framed one of the seed packets from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds because, well she liked it.

Onions.

More Wife's flowers.

Wife's front door masterpiece.

What do you see? I know what I see. I see images centered on an individual. But that's OK. Nice to have a different perspective.

WOF of the Week. Where else?

And one more for the road. Wait for it to load a few times and yes the bear was OK.

Until next time peace out :)

Tomato Explosion

I do plant extras for giving away to other local gardeners plus to make up for the odd few that don't germinate so don't freak as I started 144 plants last night. I have so many different varieties this year so I wanted to make sure I tried them all. And like I said I'll be giving a lot away too. Interested? I have seeds left over. One plant I am interested in is the Aunt Lou's Underground Railroad.
Light stand in action. I still have one more light to put on.

I also started quite a few flowers yesterday afternoon. I did pretty well a few years ago doing this but last year sucked. Fingers crossed.
Celery and eggplants coming along slowly.

All of the snow and ice is gone except for some shaded areas where the sun can't quite get too. A big warm up is coming and right now they are calling for 70 degrees Friday. Talk about a swing in weather patterns.
Enjoy the warmer weather kids.

Bee Episode

No, I didn't have any issues with bees. A good segment of America's Heartland this morning was based on Colony Collapse and Verroa Mites affecting Honey Bees. Worth a look if you have the time. http://www.americasheartland.org/episodes/episode_612/honeybee.htm
My schedule today is oddly enough starting flower seeds, try to save some bulbs, and probably get those tomatoes started. The Wife bought most of these, not me. Just for the record.
