Harvest Monday

Made it back to NC this evening from a four day weekend in WV. Had a big reception for the kids and of course it rained. Hell, it rained on us on the way home today. Busy, busy, busy we were. Helped finish off a bathroom remodel, landscaped two garden beds, mowed, picked up fallen tree pieces, seems like everything to be ready for the party.

And the river was up and muddy.

All in all a good trip. I hope to have more pictures soon as being as busy as we were I didn't have time to take some myself. It down poured literally an hour before the party started if that gives you an idea.

Squeak and I did a harvest the 1st and another one on the 3rd because we weren't going to be around for a while, and The Wife and I did when we got back in town. We got a lot of tomatoes this time around, even taking some to WV for the in-laws.

I highlighted the past weeks' harvest days. 67lbs. of tomatoes. Not too bad. Visit Daphne's Dandelions to see what everyone else is harvesting this week.

Pretty tired so going to eat something then head to bed.

More later....

  1. Was that you sitting beside me in the hour long traffic snake just trying to get to the freakin toll booth? WV has my $6 now but it made a hoped for 10pm arrival turn into a midnight arrival. I ain't usually up THAT late @;)

Thank God we've got today off!

    1. We got back in town around 7:00pm so not that late. They have $12.00 of my money but once we hit Fancy Gap, VA we went down 52 South instead of staying on I-77. Tourist trap at the bottom of the mountain! Still a long drive. At least you have the day off!

  2. Your place looks so restful and beautiful. Despite the rains causing you grief for the party, it looks like you had the place quite spiffy and ready for everyone to enjoy the out of doors. Too bad mother nature was not cooperating with you. Awesome tomato harvest! We are not at our tomato harvest season quite yet, but I am hoping to enjoy some similar bounty later this summer.

  3. 67 pounds of tomatoes!! That's great, I'm lucky to get 100 pounds in a season and you got 67 in a week. What do you do with them all????

    1. Another canning marathon upcoming! Beyond what we eat and give to a few neighbors, we can everything else. Pizza sauce, Pasta sauce, and salsa (we love a lot.)

    1. I get mine in the ground the first week of April as the winters here are usually mild, and with no trees the plants get plenty of sunlight.

  5. Wow, your tomatoes have come in strong and your peppers are looking good!

Hopefully my tomatoes will do the same in the next couple of weeks, I'm looking forward to canning lots and lots of salsa.

  7. I was wondering about the 67 pounds of tomatoes, but a canning session makes sense. Not quite to that point here, but it won't be long.

  8. You must have been very busy canning all the tomatoes. I put my tomatoes out in early April too, but under tunnels since it could still frost, and we have very cool nights so it will be near the end of July before we get any ripe ones. But we don't have many bugs to fight here, mainly voles, moles, rabbits and deer. Your hard work shows, everything looks super.
